This site is written and run by one person. It collects very little, and nothing is sold or passed on. What follows is the whole of it.
Who runs this site
Jim Hendrick, Wexford, Ireland. For anything on this page, or any request about your own information, write to jimhendrick@live.ie.
What is collected
If you subscribe by email
Your email address is stored so that new writing can be sent to you. That is the only thing it is used for. There is an unsubscribe link at the foot of every email, and unsubscribing removes you. You can also ask me to remove you and I will.
If you leave a comment
Your name, email address, comment text and IP address are stored with the comment. The name and the comment are public once approved; the email address and IP address are not shown. Every comment is held for moderation before it appears, and may be checked by an automated spam filter provided by the hosting platform. Comments are kept indefinitely unless you ask for yours to be deleted.
If you only read
The hosting platform records aggregate visitor statistics — pages viewed, roughly where in the world the visit came from, which site sent you. I see totals, not people. I do not run advertising trackers, and I do not build profiles of readers.
Cookies
The site sets cookies to keep it working and to count visits. If you leave a comment you may be given cookies that remember your name and email so you do not have to type them again. You can clear or block cookies in your browser at any time; the site will still work.
Who else handles it
The site is hosted on WordPress.com, run by Automattic Inc. Subscriptions, comments and statistics are handled by their systems, which means your information is processed by them as well as held by me. Nothing is sold, rented, or given to anyone else. Some pages link out to other organisations — Inland Fisheries Ireland, Leave No Trace Ireland, Clean Coasts, Fly Fishers International and others — and once you follow a link you are on their site under their terms, not mine.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation you can ask me what information about you I hold, ask me to correct it, ask me to delete it, or object to my holding it. Write to jimhendrick@live.ie and I will deal with it. If you are not satisfied with how I have handled it, you can complain to the Data Protection Commission in Ireland at dataprotection.ie.
Photographs and writing
Not a privacy matter, but it belongs somewhere. All the writing and all the photographs on this site are mine. Please ask before using either.
